Woodsy. Warm. Merry.
This is the bar that smells like December in the Gallatin Valley a fresh-cut tree in the corner, snow on the boots by the door, and something warm going in the kitchen.
I blended cedarwood, balsam fir, and frankincense for a scent that's genuinely woodsy rather than sweet: the fir gives you that crisp evergreen top note, the cedarwood settles it into something warm and grounded, and the frankincense adds a soft resinous depth underneath. It's the kind of scent that lingers in the bathroom for an hour after a shower, in the best way.
The bar itself is built to be rich. Tallow and coconut oil for a hard, long-lasting bar with a creamy lather, castor oil to boost the bubbles, and shea butter for extra conditioning because winters are hard on skin. There's raw honey from our own hives in there too, the way there is in nearly everything I make.
I make it once a year, and when this batch is gone, it's gone until next holiday season.
